Glamorously You: Being Your Best Self On The Inside, Outside, & Professionally

I get asked a lot about what the name of this blog means to me. Most of the time, people assume it stems from my love for makeup and fashion and what most people’s definition of “glamour” is. But it is much different than that!

Being glamorous to me isn’t just about looking good – it’s about feeling good from the inside out in all aspects of your life, personal to professional.

Here is how I connect with the word glamour and how I want you to join me on the journey to being your best self.

being-your-best-self

When I started this blog two years ago, I struggled to come up with a name. I looked at other blogs for inspiration but came up with nothing. Then, with a notebook and pen in hand, I started to scribble down words I liked. It wasn’t long before I wrote down “glamour/glamorous”. I already knew I wanted my first name to appear in the title so from there, it was pretty easy:

Glamorously Nicole

Wallah!

When the word “glamorous” comes to mind, I immediately think of what most people think of: old Hollywood actresses like Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn. Sure, these women were glamorous in the visual sense, but their everlasting fame isn’t only due to their breathtaking beauty.

It is much more than that!

Their personalities made them magnetic on and off the screen. Their style choices were classic, daring, and authentic. And of course, they lent their talents to movies that are still regarded as some of the best in film history.

What I’m saying is that they were glamorous on the inside, outside, and professionally – an amazing combination that has made them legends not just in film, but in our popular culture as well.

That is how I define the word glamour – not only as something we can visually see but as something that is all-encompassing.

That’s why I started this blog – so I can share my message to other young women that being glamorous (or beautiful, pretty, whatever word you like to use) is so much more than what you look like.

Our goal as humans is to make a lasting impact; to put a positive imprint on the world that will remain long after we are gone.

A pretty face alone can’t do that – it takes much more!

My job here is to challenge you:

  • To be the best person you can be on the inside through knowledge, self-confidence, and compassion.
  • To be the best person you can be on the outside through self-care and finding your own unique style.
  • And to be the best person you can be through your life and career by chasing your dreams, paving your own way, and giving back to others.

My goal is to help you master that killer combo!

And that is the reason why I have changed the name of this blog to Glamorously You (if you haven’t already noticed).

When I started this blog two years ago, I wanted to share my knowledge in my own way, unfiltered and honest, without any outside direction other than my own. I have learned since then that this is my passion and the only job I have ever had that has the potential to make a real difference.

The world can never have enough positivity and amazing people who can shine their light on others. I want to bring that positivity and light out of you all, my readers, as best as I can. Being your best self is always something that you can improve upon and if I can help you with your process, then I have succeeded!

It was never really about me – I just thought it would be cool to have my name in the title LOL.

Cheers to Glamorously You!

I absolutely love the name change and the reason behind it. It shows that you truly care about your readers and that you’re not in this just for you. I think that shows a lot of authenticity which makes you incredibly personable – which is the end goal when you’re behind a screen! Thank you for sharing!
