Radiantly You is a monthly beauty column for mature women, written by my mom, Annette! Be sure to catch up on last month’s post featuring my mom’s top 5 skin care tips. This month’s column will cover time-saving beauty hacks for mature women on the go and how they can make time for beauty. Enjoy!
The biggest thing I hear coming from mature women is that they just don’t have the time to do their makeup or invest in a good skincare routine. We’re busy being moms, working, and keeping everything together so how can we possibly make time to fit in full morning and nighttime skin care routines and makeup?! I’ll tell you how.
First off, it’s a matter of making yourself a priority. Yes, it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes! But it is also a matter of nailing down an effective routine and being smart about the way you go about your beauty. Let’s dive into it more!
Use dual products
They call this “killing two birds with one stone.” A wonderful way to save time on your beauty routine is to use products that have more than one purpose. For example, a moisturizer that both moisturizes and contains SPF or a BB cream that treats the skin and provides a light layer of coverage. This saves you money, time, and space in your carry-on when you’re traveling!
At this point in our lives, we have mastered the art of multitasking. Plus, no one ever said you had to remain in your bathroom while you go through your beauty routine! I like to let my eye/de-puffer cream and primer sink in while I prepare my things for work in the morning, I’ll do a face mask while I shower, and I let my hair dry while I do laundry!
Find Semi-Permanent Solutions
If you struggle with that one thing every day and spend tons of money trying to find a solution, then you may want to look into semi-permanent solutions.
For example, I have spent years (and lord knows how much money) trying to master filling in my brows. The Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil was my miracle but it would take me forever to do my brows every day! And by the end of the day, all my hard work had gone down the toilet thanks to the Florida heat I live in. So last year, I decided to get my brows microbladed. It was pricey, but I just think about all the brow pencils I would have to buy for the rest of my life compared to the amount I paid to get it done!
So if you have an issue with your lashes, brows, or minor skin ailments, there is a host of things you can do that have long-term effects that are worth looking into.
Maintain Effective Morning and Night Routines
One of the best time-saving beauty hacks I can give is the simplest one – have an effective routine that makes sense! Don’t just do certain things because someone in a YouTube video told you to. Everything in your morning and night routines should have a purpose and it should work. There’s no need to use products just for the sake of using them.
It definitely takes some time to find the right products, but it’s much more important to discover what kind of products you should be using. Not every person needs both concealer and foundation or 5 different kinds of serums. First, figure out what you need to be using and then focus on finding the best of that product.
