This is a different kind of post because I have been given the Sunshine Blogger Award! This came as a total surprise to me and truly made my day when I found out. I work really hard on Glamorously You and pour all of my love and creativity into it, so when others recognize me or simply reach out to tell me how much they love GY, I am absolutely honored!
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who are positive, creative, and inspiring by other bloggers. Once a blogger is nominated for this award, they have to do the following:
- Write a post thanking the blogger for nominating them
- Answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated them
- Nominate 11 other bloggers and give them 11 questions to answer
- Notify their nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in the post
First, a big thank you to…
Jess from Just Me Growing Up! I was so flattered when I saw that I was gifted with this award from her. Being recognized by others in the blogging community never seizes to make my heart smile. Thank you so much!
Questions from Jess
1. What motivates you most as a blogger?
My vision for Glamorously You! I have always had such big dreams for it so every day I work on bringing it that much closer to where I want it to be.
2. How do you get through times of writer’s block?
I never force it. I squeeze out what I can, even if it’s just words or short sentences. Then, I try to take time to nurture my creativity and get back to a good place.
3. What’s your best advice for someone trying to grow up and learn how to adult?
Stay true to yourself! This is a huge theme on Glamorously You and I think as an adult, it’s a major lesson to learn. This is the time when you set yourself up for the rest of your life. Some may see the idea as being “unrealistic” or “dreamy” but I think it is the most mature thing you can do to make decisions that are true to you.
4. What have you found to be the hardest part of blogging?
The pressure to make my vision a reality. I am a perfectionist so it can be hard competing with myself sometimes. I definitely put pressure on myself more than anyone else.
5. What’s your favorite show to binge watch?
Right now, I am watching a series on Netflix about the Roosevelts, which is super interesting. I tend to lean toward riveting educational shows or intense dramas, like Game of Thrones.
6. Who’s your blog’s biggest fan? Who supports what you do the most?
Without a doubt, my mom and my boyfriend. They read every article, every email, and share almost every social media post! And there are a few other bloggers and friends that definitely show their support. It’s very encouraging.
7. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A musician! I have been playing the piano since I was 8 and was always obsessed with singing, listening to music, and musical theatre. I even studied music in college at one point! The passion to make it a career has faded but the love of it all will never go away.
8. What’s your favorite blog post you’ve written so far?
10 Best Things About Being An Introvert. I write a lot about serious introvert topics on GY so I wanted this one to be a bit more light-hearted and fun. I loved the process of writing it and it ended up being one of my most read articles!
9. Do you collect anything? If so, why did you start collecting it?
I have quite the Wizard of Oz collection! It’s my all-time favorite movie and I have been collecting items for years now. I have Barbie dolls, nutcrackers, the board game, and a whole bunch of other things.
10. What’s your favorite Disney movie?
I have always loved Snow White. Back when there wasn’t a ton of ethnic representation in the Disney princesses, I loved her because she was a brunette like me! She’s also a great baker and has the sweetest personality, which I have always loved.
11. What book has had the biggest impact on you?
The Irresistible Introvert by Michaela Chung helped me discover my introversion and love myself more. It was that book that inspired me to start the Inside My Sparkly Shell series and helpd me to openly and confidently speak about introversion.
I have either collaborated with these bloggers or find myself reading their articles over and over again! I love their talent, content, and creativity. These ladies rock what they do and encourage me to keep rocking what I do. Here are my nominees:
