Where are all my creatives at?! This round-up is for you and anyone who longs to embrace their artsy side. If the year is starting off a bit slow for you, or your new year’s resolutions haven’t turned out in the way you had hoped, I’m sure these inspirational crafts I have for you will spark the change you need!
The only thing better than easy, relaxing crafts are inspirational crafts that are easy and relaxing too. Crafting is nothing I take too seriously. It’s therapeutic and allows me to create something that is entirely my own.
The 5 crafts I included here require no artistic skill, just a few supplies and your creative switch turned on! You can do most of them with materials laying around the house. So get yourself set up, put on some music, grab a glass of wine (if that’s your style), and get crafting… and inspired!
Vision Board
Supplies:
- 1 piece of cardboard, poster board, or cardstock; any size you prefer
- Magazines, newspapers, or printed images
- Scissors
- Glue
Vision boards allow you to put your fragmented dreams and goals onto one surface, turning them into a complete concept. It gives you a “vision” of what you are aiming for, which in turn, allows you to accomplish more. When you can see and feel what you want, it is easier to pursue it!
Pictured here is the vision board that I created for Glamorously You. It embodies the brand, audience, and emotional aspect of what GY currently is, as well as the vision for what I want it to be (charitable, jet-setter/worldly, etc.).
To create it, I grabbed a piece of cardboard from the recycling bin, cut out some words, colors, and photos from magazines, and got gluing! The best part? It was super fun to do and it only took me about an hour. Now, it’s sitting on my desk (Glamorously You HQ/my “corner office”) where it inspires me every day to work hard so I can make those visions a reality!
Planner Decorating
Supplies:
- Planner or calendar of your choice
- Stickers
- Washi tape
- Colored pens and/or markers
This is one of my favorite weekly activities! Every Friday, I take about 10 minutes to decorate my planner for the upcoming week. I’m definitely not as good as some other people are (check out the search results for “planner decoration” on Pinterest and you’ll see what I’m talking about), but it is just so satisfying to use up all my stickers and make my planner look pretty!
Keeping a planner or calendar is the most important step in becoming a more organized person. They lay everything out for you and help you to better manage your time. So, why not make it look appealing too? I am a very visually-driven person, so when I open my planner on Monday mornings to see fun stickers and bright colors, it lifts my mood and makes me want to start checking things off!
There are some awesome sticker books made just for planners in Michaels and online from Etsy. Pick the ones that are right for you and get planning!
A Jar of Good Things
Supplies:
- 1 mason jar or clear container
- Scraps of paper (number depends on how long you plan on contributing to it)
- Pen
- Stickers, if you wish to decorate the jar
There are so many good things that happen to us on a daily basis that simply get tossed out of our brains. Wouldn’t it be nice to write those things down to remember? That is what this inspirational craft is all about!
All you need is a jar, scraps of paper, and some optimism. Write down a good thing that happened once a day, once a week, or whatever works for you. The goal is to have a jar filled with good things by the end of the year!
I did this all the way back in 2013, and it was so easy to do. I set up the jar in a place where I could see it and left a little basket of scrap papers with a pen next to it. Every day before I went to bed, I would pull out a scrap and write down something good that happened that day – a good grade, a good night of tips at my waitressing job, a compliment someone gave me, whatever made my day a little brighter.
At the end of the year, I dumped out all of the scraps and could appreciate what a great year I had. The best part is that you can seal the jar after the year is over and make it a keepsake. I love looking back at mine still!
A Scrapbook of Inspiration
Supplies:
- 1 empty scrapbook, sketchbook, or notebook
- Magazines, newspapers, or printed images
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
This is similar to a vision board, only it’s a scrapbook! If you are a more private person that prefers to keep your goals and visions to yourself, then this one may be the best for you. As I mentioned earlier, when you have a physical object that represents your goals, it is so much easier to visualize them and make them a reality.
Take an empty notebook, sketchbook, or scrapbook and fill it with images, colors, and words that inspire you. If you think a vision board is great, try a whole book filled with your visions!
Bullet Journaling
Supplies:
- 1 bullet journal, sketchbook, or notebook
- Colored pens and/or markers
This inspirational craft is a huge trend right now! A bullet journal is a mix between a planner, a diary, and a personal tracker. It’s meant to be super visual and the secret to major productivity.
When creating your bullet journal, search the web for some ideas and think about what would be best for you to include. I personally love these ideas:
Money savings chart
Mood tracker
Special birthdays tracker
Inspirational quotes
Bucket List
Check out my Journal Love board on Pinterest for more ideas on how to improve your bullet journal.
Get creative with different fonts, doodles, and colors in your bullet journal. It’s meant to be a total representation of you!
Remember, crafting is supposed to be fun and expressive, so let yourself be free with it! Go crazy with these inspirational crafts and get motivated to be a better, more glamorous you 🙂
