Over time, I have come across different ways of doing things that have worked for me and have become apart of my regular beauty routine. Whether it be from Pinterest, talking to other women, or just experimenting on my own, I want to share my tried & true beauty tips with you! None of these are questionable like a lot of those Pinterest hacks (don’t hairspray your face to set your makeup, ladies). They’re simple and fool-proof!
Dab mouthwash on your zits to zap them away
This one makes complete sense. The alcohol in the mouthwash dries out the pimple and makes it decrease in size significantly, or disappear altogether! I usually do this before I go to bed and for some extra power, I put some acne cream on after the mouthwash dries.
Toner is LOVE
A lot of us are under the impression that the base of a good skin care routine is cleansing and moisturizing, but may I introduce you to toning! It restores the skin to its natural pH level after cleansing, prevents acne, and leaves you with radiant skin.
I particularly love it because it cools down my face after a hot shower and (ready for it?) it takes off any makeup I may have missed. It’s surprising how much makeup is still left on my skin after cleansing!
Make sure to grab a toner that is alcohol-free to prevent drying, and fragrance-free because as fancy as “rose water” sounds, it’s not necessary and can cause skin reactions.

Hairspray your bobby pins
This one’s a no-brainer. The hairspray makes the bobby pin sticky and boom, no slip grip! I like to wait a few seconds after spraying the bobby pin so it’s a bit tacky. This will ensure that your beautiful up-do or messy bun stays just as perfect as you want it to be!
Stretch out tight shoes with a sock and blow-dryer
If you have found the perfect pair of heels but they are slightly too tight, this tip is for you! Put on a sock (the thicker, the better), squeeze your foot into the shoe, and blow-dry it for a minute or so. The heat from the blow-dryer and the thickness of the sock will stretch out your shoe just the slightest bit to help relieve those toes!
Just a quick and hopefully obvious reminder: put the blow-dryer on the warm or medium setting, NOT the hot setting. I will not be to blame for cooked feet!
Exfoliate your lips in a pinch with a washcloth
If you don’t have time for a messy lip scrub or full-on lip exfoliation session, take a wet washcloth and gently scrub your lips in a circular motion. Afterwards, apply a healthy amount of lip balm and you’re ready for some hot red lipstick (or purple in my case).

Dry your nails with quick-drying products
There is nothing worse than waiting for wet nails to dry. It literally is like watching paint dry. Cut that time down significantly by not only topping your nails with a quick-dry top coat (I like Seche Vite) but also by spraying them with a nail drying spray. Immediately after, your nails will be mostly dry and within 10 minutes, you’re good to go.

“Cook” your concealer
This one is an old drag queen trick: apply your concealer and let it sit for 1-2 minutes before blending. It will warm up to your skin and blend like nobody’s business. No caked concealer here!
